Welcome Thun Reliance

We have taken delivery of our product tanker Thun Reliance. She is the second vessel in a series of eight in our “Resource Efficiency Class”.

Welcome Thun Vettern

Erik Thun has taken delivery of Thun Vettern. The 17,999-dwt vessel was built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou and is an upgraded version of the sister Thun Venern. Thun Vettern is the latest contribution to the “Vinga-series”, all trading within the Gothia Tanker Alliance.

The Thun Vettern is the newest and latest edition to the Vinga-series and she has ice class 1A. All sisters are designed by our partner Furetank together with FKAB with special focus on minimal impact on the environment. The vessels in the Vinga-series all have dual-fuel capability, run on LNG/LBG or gasoil and are fully equipped for shore power connection when available in ports. Find out more here.

Launching of Thun Reliance

On Friday, May 3, we had the pleasure of naming and launching the ‘Thun Reliance’. She is the second of eight ordered product tankers in our “Resource Efficiency Class”,  being built by Scheepswerf Ferus Smit BV.

The vessel was named by Godmother Camilla Dimberg, Head of Physical Management at Preem. Upon delivery, the Thun Reliance will enter a long-term employment with Preem. The vessel will be technically managed by MF Shipping Group. You can find out more in our press release.

Thun Resource is delivered

Thun Resource, the first in a series of eight product tankers in our ”Resource Efficient Class”, has been delivered to Thun Tankers and as of today, she is entering into a long-term employment with Nynas AB. Thun Resource will be technically managed by MF Shipping Group and is built by Scheepswerf Ferus Smit BV.

Adaptive propulsion to minimize energy usage, ready for shore electricity connection, UPS battery pack, the latest hull design and the newest and most resource efficient machinery are some examples of the vessel’s new features. Thun Tankers adds new orders of the Resource Efficiency Class

The Erik Thun Group is pleased to announce the addition of further four new vessels ordered. Two multi-purpose dry cargo vessels and two coastal tankers have been ordered and will be built by Shipsveerf Ferus Smit B.V. in the Netherlands. This order brings the current order book from Shipveerf Ferus Smit B.V up to fourteen vessels and our current order book up to fifteen vessels in total. Resource efficient tankers

Last week we announced the order of four 7999 mts dwt tankers. The ordered “Resource Efficiency Class” vessels are an addition to the two previously ordered sisters, extending the series to six identical coastal tankers. Focus on resource efficiency, environmental responsibility and logistical reliability has been key in the design process.

The six ordered ’R-class’ sisters will be built by Scheepswerf Ferus Smit BV in the Netherlands with delivery from 2024 and onwards. Please find out more in our press release.

Welcome Thun Britain

On Friday January 7th our second NaabsaMAX, Thun Britain, was launched in Leer, Germany. Our long experience of building resource efficient, high quality vessels has been used in the building process. Focus has been to maximize the vessel´s cargo intake and increase in-port performance; with the scope to allow further increased cargo lot sizes going into restricted niche ports.

Resource efficiency, new regulations and environmental care has been key in the development of the new vessel. Upon delivery in March, the vessel will enter into a long-term agreement with UK based Geos Group Ltd. Please find out more by reading our press release.

M/V Thun Empower delivered

We have taken delivery of our fourth vessel in the ”E-class” series; Thun Empower. She will be trading within the Gothia Tanker Alliance network. She left Eemshaven on her maiden voyage to Gothenburg this weekend. Please find out more reading our press release.

M/V Thun Empower successfully launched

On Tuesday July 27, Thun Tankers launched the Thun Empower in an online event where she was named by Godmother Katharina Stanzel, Managing Director of Intertanko. The E-class vessels are the result of a long tradition in building both efficient and climate smart vessels in line with, and even beyond, the climate goals we all need to embrace.

M/V Thun Equality delivered

We have taken delivery of our third vessel in the “E-class” series; Thun Equality. She will be trading within the Gothia Tanker Alliance network. Her first destination was the port of Kalundborg in Denmark where she will start operating. Please find out more reading our press release.
